Darlington Raceway, nicknamed The Lady in Black and the track Too Tough To Tame, is home to the award-winning Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR and annually hosts two NASCAR Cup Series race weekends, along with the NASCAR Xfinity Series and/or NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Opening in 1950, Darlington Raceway is “A NASCAR Tradition” and NASCAR’s original superspeedway with its famed 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval, challenging the sport's best in one of the most iconic NASCAR races, the Southern 500®. Rusty Wallace, Hall of Fame NASCAR driver, who raced at Darlington 43 times and never won, was known to say that as soon as a driver started racing his competitors and not the track, he was about to hit the wall. Many, many drivers have carried the famed "Darlington Stripe" on their cars as a testimony to her nature. (For more information about Darlington Raceway, visit darlingtonraceway.com.)
On May 7, 2022, the Darlington Raceway has teamed up with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to begin a new tradition—bicycles on the speedway! Join us as we launch this exciting event for one of the world's most important charities.
Cyclists will complete a couple of laps on the speedway prior to exiting the track through the tunnel and riding on their choice of short (+/- 12 miles + track laps), medium (+/- 42 miles + track laps) or long (+/- 65 miles + track laps) routes. After completing their selected route, they will return to food and fellowship in the parking area at Manheim Darlington. (We are also working on providing showers for cyclists. We will update this site once utility connection confirmation is received.) Then, at 1:30 p.m., the green flag drops on the Spring Xfinity Series race. Registrants for the cycling event and event volunteers are eligible to receive a complimentary ticket (and purchase additional tickets for family members) for that race.
