The Empire State Winter Games short track event is an ability meet that will group you by time and age.

Short Track competitors will compete on an NHL-sized ice rink (200ft x 85ft) in distances ranging from 222m to 1,500m.Top

Athletes can pull up to 4 g’s on the turns, making this a thrilling spectator sport.  This year's events will take place on the 1932 Rink at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.  

Short track is open to any athlete who belongs to any speed skating national governing body for their country and has competed in a prior event at a published time. 

Saturday's events will start at 3:00 pm and conclude around 9:30 pm 
Sunday's events will start at 8:00 am and conclude around 1:30 pm

Scholastic: $80
Open: $80
Masters: $80
 

CLASSES

10 and under will be split into groups by time and skate on 85m Track and must submit a 285m time from a previous USS Sanctioned event. This event is not open to new skaters. 

11 and over who do not qualify for Heartland will be grouped by USS Sanctioned event 500m time 

Any athlete 12 and over who has a USS Sanctioned event time of 1:58.00 for women or 1:48.00 for men will automatically skate in the Heartland Race Series.

This event is not open to new skaters. All Participants must have skated in past USS or CSS event.

Saturday February 1: 3:00 – 9:30                                  1932 Rink
Athlete Race check in for helmet covers is from 1:00 – 2:15
Sunday February 2: 8:00 – 1:30                                     1932 Rink

There is no on ice warmup time for this event. Please plan accordingly for off ice warmup on own. 

Each skater in their class will skate a total of 7 races.  This is an ability meet and will be only an ability meet. Skaters will be place according to their most recent PB Seeding Time. This event is not open to 1st year skaters.

(Men must be 12 as of July 1, 2024 and have a sub 1:48.00 1000m. Women must be 12 as of July 1, 2024 and have a sub 1:58.00)

If a skaters 12 to 30 qualifies for Heartland you will be placed in Heartland.
Skaters 9 and 10 who have qualified to skate on the 111m track by skating a sub 1:00 500 will be placed up into the Scholastic Classes.

Skater Cap is 120 athletes.

REFUNDS
There are no refunds of entry fees. While registering, please double-check the dates of the competition and the qualification requirements needed to compete. In the case of a medical emergency, depending on the circumstance, a refund MAY be considered.
