In 2019 we formed “Team Mickey” to honor our daughter, and to carry on Michelle's legacy thru advocacy and to erase the stigma associated with mental health illnesses.
The Walk for Hope is more than just a Walk. It reflects the lives of a vast number of people who have been touched by mental health illnesses - family member, coworker, friend, or self.
Sadly, our family is included in the numbers – our lives were forever changed on June 6, 2018.
Our daughter, our hero, Michelle, ended her life by way of suicide at the age of 44 on June 6, 2018. She was incredibly beautiful, courageous, and determined women who suffered daily with endless mental anguish because of her psychological challenges. Michelle fought hard every hour of every day.
My advocacy doesn’t stop here…. our prayer is that the whole world will hear the cries in our hearts for an effective mental health system and to put the CARE back into it.
