About 1000 Friends for Hope
We are a team of neighbors, family, and friends who joined together 19 years ago to start Walking for Hope. As a young girl, I thought that if 1,000 people each contributed $25, we could raise $25,000 for mental health research and treatment.In the years since then, our team has raised over $200,000 for the Foundation of Hope and met so many people with stories of how they have been impacted by mental illness. We continue to walk each year, reuniting for this great cause.
We hope you'll join us again this year in Walking for Hope and bringing much-needed support to this important work.
Why am I fundraising?
Another Walk for Hope is upon us, but this year will be markedly different from the others as we will be missing the monumental presence of my dad, Jim Brenner, who passed away in November.For 21 years, my dad was my passionate advocate and steadfast fundraising partner for this very worthy cause. He would help take me around to visit neighbors and even bake cookies all night in the Angus Barn kitchen for our bake sales. He encouraged me to continue to raise funds year after year, and I know he would have wished to be part of this year’s event.
I set a goal with him many years ago that inspired our team name, 1000 Friends for Hope. While we’ve come close, we’ve never raised $25,000 for a single event, but I’m hopeful that this year, with your support, we can do it for my dad.
Together we have made an impact, and together we can continue to make a difference, one step (by 1000 Friends) at a time!
