About Legacy of Love
Our team was created in honor of Kaleigh, our beautiful, outgoing 19 year old niece, whom we lost to anxiety and smiling depression in June, 2015.Since we started this journey, we have learned that there are so many people that are too familiar with this disease.
We need to take time to show our love to those around us! The loss of Kaleigh has left us to carry on her Legacy of Love.
We would love for you to join our team or would appreciate any donations for the research and treatment of mental illnesses.
Why am I fundraising?
Prior to 2015, I was one of those people. The one that discredited mental illness and thought, “this disease will never affect me and my family. Mental illness only happens to individuals that had a tough childhood; an unloving family; or were not financially well off.” Well I was wrong and ignorant in my thinking and am saddened that I did not know more about this dreadful disease that is becoming one of the leading causes of deaths in young teenagers/adults.
I lost my 19 year old niece, Kaleigh, to anxiety, which lead to depression. You would never know how much Kaleigh was suffering by looking at her. She was pretty, popular, had a loving family, and had her whole life ahead of her. It looked like she was well on her way to a successful and happy life. Little did we know she was silently struggling. My family and I now walk, and volunteer each year to help raise awareness, to eliminate the stigma, and find a cure or effective treatments for people that are suffering with this disease.
