About Team Mickey

Team Mickey In 2019 we formed “Team Mickey” to honor our daughter, Michelle's legacy thru advocacy and to erase the stigma associated with mental health conditions.

Why am I fundraising?

Team Mickey Our daughter, our hero, Michelle, ended her life by way of suicide at the age of 44 on June 6, 2018. She was incredibly beautiful, courageous, and determined women who suffered daily with endless mental anguish because of her psychological challenges. Over her lifetime, she was diligent in seeking and trying the right course of treatments coupled with her tenacious spirit and determination to beat this insidious disease so she could live a life without the constant battle of these challenges that robbed her of that peace. Michelle fought hard every hour of every day. I am carrying on Michelle's legacy through advocacy to erase stigma and to inform the public about unlicensed mental health facilities. Gov Cooper signed HB734 on 7/2/2021 which was amended to include "Michelle's Law" - Our advocacy doesn’t stop here…. my prayer is that the whole world will hear the cries in our hearts for a better mental health system and to put the CARE back into it. “Mickey” is cheering us on in spirit to continue fighting.
