"I became aware of LFMF 2 years ago, when you helped my former coworker Peter Scagnoli after his daughter Lia was diagnosed. I ran the 5k in 2012 to support Peter’s family, and was blown away by the atmosphere – seeing a community truly come together to support their own. As I learned more about the foundation, I was very impressed with the way that you all had taken this terrible situation, and worked to make positive change for others in memory of Leah. In the running community almost every race is a fundraiser of some sort – I’ve done many, and really have never been touched by one like I have by the LFMF. That’s really the reason I want to help however I can – seeing through Peter the impact that you have, and really appreciating the selflessness and motivation of the entire organization.
Part of the race fees for the Wakefield Ultramarathon do go to local charities, but there is no other fundraising/charity associated with participating in the race. I figured there would be a good opportunity to do my own fundraising to support a local charity, and because of all of the reasons listed above, I’d really like to do this for LFMF."
