NOTE: DUE TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE GOVERNOR THAT ALL GATHERINGS OF 100 PEOPLE OR MORE BE POSTPONED, THE CARY ROAD RACE WILL NOT BE HELD ON APRIL 4TH AS SCHEDULED.  THE TOWN STAFF IS IN THE PROCESS OF DECIDING WHETHER TO CANCEL THE EVENT FOR THIS YEAR OR POSTPONE IT TO A LATER DATE IN 2020 


The 42nd Annual Cary Road Race is one of the area’s oldest events annually drawing over 1,000 entrants. 

The event takes place in Downtown Cary, starting and finishing at the Downtown Park at the corner of Dry Avenue and Academy Street.  In addition to the two races, the event features food trucks, live bands, local beer and more.  The longest event of the day will be a 5-Mile race replacing the 10K run in past years.  The race is managed by Town of Cary Parks, Recreational and Cultural Resources

In April of 2019, Omar Wiggan won the 5-Miler in 28:26 and Faith Keitamy was the overall winner in the women’s competition setting a new women's course record of 30:32.  Seth Hutchinson holds the course record of 26:16 set in 2018.

In the 5K Chris Costin set a new course record mark after finishing  in 17:42. Brennan Liming was the top woman finisher in 19:10. Liming holds the women's course mark of 18:59 which she ran in 2018.


The 5 Miler will begin at 8:30 am and the 5K at 8:45 am.

The entry fee is $25 up to and including March 31.  T-shirts are an additional $10.

March 31 is the last day to register on-line for $25.  After that date, the entry fee increases to $35 up to and including race day.
