The 5K is held on a straight out-and-back course starting and finishing at the Cape Fear Christian Academy. The school is located at 138 Erwin Chapel Road in Erwin.
Traditionally, this race has been held on the first Saturday in May, but due to a conflict with the school’s calendar, it will be held in April.
Last May, Ray Butts was the overall winner in the 5K, finishing in 21:48. Emily Reynolds was the female champion with a 25:55 effort.
The event actually consists of three different races. The featured 5K starts at 10 am, the 1-mile Color Race, begins at 11:30 am, and the 100-yard Dash starts at 12:15 pm.
