T Shirt Pick-Up
Volunteers will distribute race-tee shirts to participants according to their requested size which is designated by a circled letter, xs, s, m, L, XL. Upon receipt of their race tee-shirt, volunteers will draw a line through the circled letter as a confirmation that participant has received their race-tee. Changing shirt size can ONLY BE DONE AFTER THE RACE, if there are any shirts left over.

Start Line Crew
Volunteers at the START LINE assist race staff in putting up the start line arch preparing and securing start corrals, controlling pre-race start crowds, and assisting with corral control and movement during the start.

Finish Line Crew
Volunteers at the finish line assist race staff with timing, crowd control and distributing medals, food, water, and other items to finishers, and encouraging them to take photos at the photo booth and post them on social media if they use it.

Course Marshalls are assigned to a designated area of the course. They are responsible to make sure participants do not get lost on the course by pointing them in the right direction, and giving the runners some motivation and encouragement by cheering them on.

Water Stations/Food Station
Water Station/Food Station volunteers will set up tables, with cups and water and hand out the cups with water to participants as needed. There will also be a water station where participants can fill their water bottles. This Station is The CamelBak station along with the water bottles in efforts to support a "Ditch the Disposable" awareness. Food Stations will have bananas, tangerines, and bagels. Volunteers will gather all the empty cups and other garbage from water and food stations, making sure areas are very clean during and after the race.

General Volunteers are the "ready reserves" who are assigned to any of the other start/finish, course marshall, etc. areas where volunteer positions are needed.. This is a perfect position for anyone who would like to help, but has no specific position in mind.

Here are your instructions for Race Day, Sunday, January 12, 2020
PLEASE SEE: The Volunteer Co-ordinator assigned to the area you are interested in.
1. 5:30-6:00 a.m. Arrive at Tidelands Park - 2000 Mullinix Drive according to the time designated for your volunteer job. sign-in, set up instructions and assignments
2. Receive Race Crew Tee
3. When your Job Leader says it's ok, Grab a little bite to eat (snacks and coffee will be provided)
4. 7:45-8:00 a.m. Course Marshalls depart for their assigned locations. Some of you will be at "far point" course locations so you need time to get to there.
5. 8:10 a.m. Race warm-up
6. 8:20 a.m. National Anthem
7. 8:30 a.m. Race Begins
8. 9:30/45 a.m. Bicycle "Sweep" will confirm last runner/walker.
9. Dress Warmly for the early morning, bring fun money for raffles,
10.ABOVE ALL: HAVE FUN!!

Volunteer helps with SD SoleMates Information and medical tent. Must have knowledge of SDSM and if experienced in the medical field or CPR certified, that would be helpful.

I know that volunteering for a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I attest that I have read the rules of the race and agree to abide by them. I assume all risks associated with volunteering in this event, including but no limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates or roller blades, animals, and personal music players are not allowed in the race and I will abide by all race rules. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the San Diego SoleMates the city of San Diego and Coronado, and the Road Runners Club of America, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
