Team Chili Peppers is a group of individuals who want to make a change and believe MENTAL ILLNESS MATTERS. We come together and walk for those who lost their lives to mental illness and to help support those who are dealing with mental illness today. Our goal is to educate people, eliminate the stigma, and help fund scientific research. Over the last eleven years we have raised $96,026.00 for the Foundation of Hope! I found the Walk for Hope in 2013 after I lost my brother, Mark, to mental illness. The feelings of grief were overwhelming and I needed to turn my sadness into something meaningful. Mark, was a unique person who touched the lives of many people with his abundance of knowledge and handsome smile. Mark's mental illness was concealed, but he suffered from anxiety, depression, and addiction for years. I remember Mark, not for his mental illness, but for his sense of humor, his passion for equality, and his love for HOT chili peppers! His favorite was the ghost pepper. Mark wanted to make the world a better place for EVERYONE, so in his memory I created Team Chili Peppers to help raise money for mental health research. That's what Mark would have wanted, to help others and to make a difference. Over the last eleven years my team and I have raised $94,026.00 for the Foundation of Hope. Mark is no longer with us, but his memory lives on through the research we fund and the people's lives we touch. Together we are making the world a better place!
