About Steps for Change

Steps for Change After walking in several Walk for Hope events with family members and friends, in 2015 Cindy decided to form a team and named it Steps for Change. By combining our resources, passion and efforts, we believe that one day we will all live in a society where mental health is valued. Now retired,Cindy continues to passionately advocate and volunteer with NAMI Wake County and walks in the annual fundraiser, NAMI Walks, in May. She always saves the October date for the Walk for Hope event! Today, Steps for Change has grown to 15 members and counting...

Why am I fundraising?

Steps for Change After walking in several Walk for Hope events with family members and friends, in 2015 I decided to form a team and named it Steps for Change. I believe that one day we will all live in a society where mental health is valued. I am now retired, but remain a passionate advocate and volunteer with NAMI Wake County and I walk in the annual fundraiser, NAMI Walks, in May-Mental Health Awareness Month. I always save the October date (another Mental Health Awareness Month) for the Walk for Hope event! Today, as the captain of Steps for Change, I've seen our team grow from 5 members to 15 and counting. My team raised $5,000 last year ever and qualified for a FLAG with our Team name!
