Why am I fundraising?
My life experiences have affected my views on mental health disorders. I strongly believe that there should be no stigma attached to having an illness of the brain just as there is none for a physical issue. My family tree has members who have suffered greatly from mental health disorders. Depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder have impacted many of them. I lost my wonderful brother, who suffered from the demons of bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and anxiety. It was heartbreaking to lose someone so close to me whom I loved so deeply. I have worked in a school for children with mental health disorders. Even the well-trained staff is sometimes unable to provide consistent education to the children because of their issues. Some people feel that a mentally ill person doesn't have enough willpower to get better; people need to understand that chemical imbalances of the brain cannot be treated by motivation alone.Please help me raise money for this great cause by donating to my team, JoJo's Joggers.
