RUN

The Race for Steak

Held on the same morning as our annual Walk for Hope, this year's Race for Steak is a USA Track & Field Certified timed 5K run. Many of our runners also participate in the Walk and the Festival - it's all one price, and the Race for Steak kicks off an hour before the Walk!

Route

The Race for Steak features a 5K route (3.1 miles) that begins at the Angus Barn on Hwy 70, goes up Glenwood Ave into Umstead Park, turns around just before the Umstead Visitor Center, and returns to the Angus Barn. Click here to view a map of route.

Race for Steak Start Times

Registration: Opens at 7:30 a.m.
Untimed Run: Pushes off at 9 a.m.

Note: There is a course time limit! All runners must be off the course by 9:50 a.m. because the Walk kicks off at 10:00 a.m.! There will be a dedicated run lane up to the Finish line so runners do not have to dodge other pedestrians.

Event Pricing

The Walk for Hope and the Race for Steak is more than a community event - it's a huge fundraiser for the research and treatment of mental illnesses. Whether you're participating in-person or virtually, all pricing is the same! Walk or run, then stay on the Angus Barn property to enjoy the festivities! All participants will receive a wristband for admission to the Walk for Hope, the Race for Steak, and to the festival.

Please Note:
Online pre-registration for the Race for Steak will close at 11:59 p.m. EST on Thursday, October 10th
