About Remembering Charles Lee

Remembering Charles Lee "Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God". Philippians 1:3

My father sent me number of inspirational verses from the scripture - that was one of the very last verses he texted me before he succumbed to ALS.

If I could describe my father, an amazing husband of 36 years and father of two, in just a few words, they would be the following: caring, dedicated, driven, intelligent, and most important of all, loving. My father always put his family's happiness as his top priority in his life. We would not have achieved our dreams today without our father's incredible dedication to his family. I still vividly remember innumerable family road trips that my father organized, including a cross-country trip from NYC to Seattle which I will never forget. My father also loved classical music and was an avid collector of old records, and never missed an opportunity to watch his sons' musical performances. In addition, my father loved outdoors, and never missed an opportunity to hike or walk each day. He always embarked on some of the most rigorous and toughest trails at any mountains he hiked, and no challenge was too much for him. My father also had a great sense of humor and never failed to bring smile and laughter to our faces, no matter what challenges we faced as a family. It is hard to believe he is gone, at such young age, when he had many more dreams and goals in life for his family and career.

My father, was diagnosed in June 30, 2021 with an aggressive and very rare form of ALS that also causes frontotemporal dementia. Learning of diagnosis was indescribable - I still have PTSD thinking of that day... it was such a shock, as he was a very healthy man without any underlying health issues, not even minor ones. He has never been hospitalized ever in his life, until the few days before he succumbed to the illness. He passed away peacefully on October 7, 2021.

We need to let people with ALS know they are not alone. ALS affects more than nerve cells and muscles, it affects families, friends, co-workers, and communities. With no known cause or cure, ALS challenges the human spirit and tests the courage of everyone touched by this devastating disease.

However, we can work together to create hope that restores dreams and builds courage. Together, we can give strength and hope to our loved ones, neighbors, and friends facing the fear and uncertainty of ALS.

Your gifts will make this possible. Remember that no donation is too small. Thank you for helping us build hope and become one step to curing ALS!

Best wishes,
Tim Lee
