Every athlete who competes in the Alabama State Games MUST have a completed player waiver on file.
You will not be allowed to compete if you have not completed a player waiver. The Waiver for Baton is included as a part of the registration form.

Register your HERO to be recognized during the Honoring Our Heroes portion of the Opening Ceremony:
The Honoring Our Heroes program recognizes individuals and families who have served, sacrificed, and made lasting contributions to their communities and the state of Alabama. Registered Heroes will be recognized during the 43rd Alabama State Games Opening Ceremony and will receive a commemorative Honoring Our Heroes medal. Eligible honorees include:

Native Americans and their descendants

Active-duty military and their descendants
-
Descendants of anyone who has served in the military since the Revolutionary War
-
First Responders
-
Descendants of individuals who have made significant contributions to Alabama through areas such as science, music, literature, the arts, civic service, business, and finance

Opening Ceremony | June 12 | BJCC North Exhibition Hall & Legacy Arena
Join us as we kick off the 43rd Alabama State Games with the Opening Ceremony — free and open to the public. All registered athletes are encouraged to attend and participate in the Parade of Athletes.

Athlete Check-In:

3:00–6:30 p.m. at the North Exhibition Hall - 1160-1582 Richard Arrington Jr Blvd N, Birmingham, AL 35203

Athletes will check in for the Opening Ceremony (not their sport)

Athletes attending the Opening Ceremony will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a scholarship drawing wristband.

To be eligible for scholarship drawings, athletes must check in before 6:30 p.m. and attend the Opening Ceremony.

Honoring Our Heroes Check-In:

3:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the North Exhibition Hall - Heroes will check in and pick up their packets

Heroes and those honoring them may pick up their packet at the North Exhibition Hall. Please follow the packet instructions during the Honoring Our Heroes program at the Opening Ceremony

17 total $2,500 academic scholarships will be awarded throughout the evening.

Scholarship winners need to have a parent or guardian present when receiving the award

Exhibition Hall Locked:

6:30 p.m. — Doors to the Exhibition Hall will lock at 6:30 p.m. There will be no opportunity to check in after 6:30 p.m. Please complete the check-in before then to remain eligible for your complimentary t-shirt and the scholarship drawing.

Parade of Athletes Line-Up:

6:15–6:45 p.m.

Athlete Lineup will take place at the South Exhibition Hall promptly at 6:15 p.m.

Athletes will line up by assigned region/color.

Opening Ceremony:

7:00–8:00 p.m. Parade of Athletes, athlete oath, Honoring our Heroes, cauldron lighting, live entertainment, and more.

The 2026 Alabama State Games Opening Ceremony will be televised live on the following Gray Media Affiliates: WBRC (FOX, Birmingham), WSFA (NBC, Montgomery), WALA (FOX, Mobile), and WAAY (ABC, Huntsville)
