About Legacy of Love
Our team was created in honor of Kaleigh, our beautiful, outgoing 19 year old niece, whom we lost to anxiety and smiling depression in June, 2015.Since we started this journey, we have learned that there are so many people that are too familiar with this disease.
We need to take time to show our love to those around us! The loss of Kaleigh has left us to carry on her Legacy of Love.
We would love for you to join our team or would appreciate any donations for the research and treatment of mental illnesses.
Why am I fundraising?
Up until a few years ago, I was one of those people. Whenever I heard about mental illness, I thought “This disease will never affect me and my family. Mental diseases only happen to people who don’t have a loving family, or have a hard life.” Well, I was wrong. These terrible illnesses are taking the lives of so many people. They're becoming one of the prime causes of deaths in young teenagers/adults.
In 2015, I lost my 19 year old cousin, Kaleigh, to anxiety, which lead to depression. She had what we call “Smiling Depression”. You would have never guessed what she was struggling with because she hid it all behind a smile. She was beautiful, popular, had a wonderful and loving family, and had her whole life ahead of her. We never knew what she was going through until it was too late to help her. My family and I now walk, and volunteer each year to help raise awareness for these illnesses. We do it to get rid of the stigma and raise money to find a cure or effective treatments for people that are suff
