Why am I fundraising?

Team 26 My daughter Nicole was a great student, an athlete, a daredevil and the most compassionate person I have ever seen around the homeless and stray animals. She cracked us up with her antics. Funny and witty she could get anyone to laugh. She swam throughout high school and was the captain of her year round swim team. She swam with her heart and once swam 8000 yards in support of charity.
Her life changed when she hit puberty. She began to act out, run away and performed self-injury. The mental illness she acquired with puberty followed her through her entire adult life. Diagnosed as bipolar and with extreme depression, she could not face life, and finally, at the age of 29, she took her own life.

I know many a child whose life is disrupted during puberty. I am raising money to support research into the cause of this and am hopeful that one day researchers will find a cure - so that other young adults don't go through this and so other parents don't have to watch their child suffer.
