We’re excited to invite you to make an even bigger impact through this year’s Refugee Hope Partners 5K! Along with lacing up your running (or walking!) shoes, you can now take part in Peer-to-Peer Fundraising—a fun and meaningful way to rally your community around refugees in the Triangle.
By creating or joining a team, you’ll help raise support before race day, cheer each other on, and see just how powerful community can be when we show up together.
We've even created a DIGITAL TEAM TOOL KIT to provide you with everything you need to have a stellar team!!

Every dollar raised helps Refugee Hope Partners provide critical resources, programs, and long-term support to refugee families as they build new lives in our community. When you run, fundraise, and invite others to join you, you’re helping create a more welcoming Triangle for all.
Where does the money go?
100% of the funds raised through ThriveK support Refugee Hope Partners’ programs that welcome and walk alongside refugee families in the Triangle througha areas like education, health, advocacy, and community support.
Do I have to fundraise to participate in the race?
No. Fundraising is completely optional. You can still register, run or walk, and enjoy race day without raising additional funds.
How do I start a fundraising page?
When you register for this year's ThriveK, you’ll see an opportunity on the registration form to either join a team or create a team. From there, you can set a goal, add a message about why you’re participating, and share your page via email, text, or social media.
Can I join or create a team?
Anyone can create a team or join an existing one! Team members’ fundraising totals are combined and displayed on the leaderboard.
Can I fundraise by myself instead of being on a team?
Absolutely! Individuals will can get in on the action too! We even have a prize for the individual who raises the most money!
Who should be on my team?
Anyone! - friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, small group, church, gym mates, classmates, run club, etc. Have fun with it!
Is there a minimum fundraising amount?
No minimum required. Whether you raise $25 or $10,000, every dollar makes a difference
What if I don’t know how to fundraise?
You’re not alone - it can feel intimidating! But you don’t need any prior experience. We’ll provide simple tools, sample messages, and step-by-step guidance to help you get started. Most participants raise funds by sharing their personal page with friends and family and explaining why ThriveK and supporting refugee families matters to them. Even a single post or text can make a big difference.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Refugee Hope Partners is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
